The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has used a couple valet parking companies since the early 1990s. But what distinguishes Valet Solutions from the others is their valet attendants' speed and attentive customer service. Just ask the patients.
"This is the best, fastest and most friendly visit ever," UAMS patient Sandy Orton wrote on an unsolicited Valet Solutions comments card. "We have been using valet parking at UAMS for over seven years and this is the first time my money was spent wisely."
Linda Jordan, another patient at UAMS, agrees.
"The service is far superior to the previous valet parking and prior management," she said. "This service is very professional, polite and efficient."
With its sprawling campus spanning seven square blocks, UAMS is the 11th largest hospital in the nation. Valet parking is critical for patients who may be disabled or in too much pain to walk the long distance from a parking deck to the building.
"The retrieval time is quick," Outpatient Center Financial Manager Deanna Stiles said. "The valets run a block and a half to get cars, so our patients wait no more than three minutes."
State-funded UAMS hired Valet Solutions in a formal bid it is required to do every few years. Three valet companies submitted proposals, met with a selection committee, and were evaluated based on cost, general quality, capability and experience in similar situations, and references. Stiles said Valet Solutions received the highest rankings across the board.
And now Valet Solutions parks cars and offers other assistance for UAMS patients and visitors at the Outpatient Clinics, ACRC, the Jones Eye Institute, and the Jack T. Stephens Spine Center. Valet Solutions also provides a shuttle from the Reynolds Institute on Aging to the rest of the campus.
"They just have great customer service skills with our patients," Stiles said, adding that the valets even open car doors for people who aren't valet customers. "A lot of patients are sick or in pain and anything can upset them. Valet Solutions handles them very well."
